Hear the funny sound in the back ground? That would be negative people sucking the energy right out of you. Why are you hanging out in places and with people that do that to you? Or should we not ask why are you letting that happen?
One of the key reasons that we let that happen is that attach a lot of meaning to the relationship we have with these sour folks. If we only change this, that, and the other thing. Yeah, yeah, and it may happen that you can impact them for the better. But for how long? You may just get hurt again and again. These people are often experts in make believe and storytelling leading to a new world of hurt.
First and foremost we must learn how to let go. Letting go of the extreme feelings love and hate is the first step in the right direction. This is most likely the toughest thing to do: When do I call it quits in this relationship and thus let it go? Only if you are willing to let happen what always was supposed to happen please learn how to let go of love and hate first (for unhealthy relationships).
From then on your road to recovery is not hard to reach and pursue. The most effective way to keep bad influence type people away from you is to do one or all of the following:
- Exercise. Keep your body and soul fit. Exercise pulls negativity out of you and then the eternally pessimistic crowd has very little impact on you.
- Seek out lovely people to hang out with. Nothing lets sour folks withdraw and declare defeat quickly enough as when they are surrounded by positive people.
- Walk away when you see the first signs of trouble. Provocations cannot be tolerated – even if you are related to such people. Stay away from gossip and gossipers as well.
Life is too short than sticking around people who are energy sinks. Come on and let’s make a difference with ourselves and others. The more energy you can keep, the more energy you have for others who deserve it and for life events that challenge us.
