How to avoid the biggest mistake in volunteering
Not showing up and not staying on a regular basis to something you volunteered doing is a career and friendship killer. “Why?” you ask? After all you only volunteered your time and talents. Inconsistency and not being able to count on you is the number one trust buster. Once that trust is broken people are no longer counting on you – you are being typecast as being unreliable. That can easily spin out of control no matter how hard you try explaining to people how volunteering is all about being a choice.
Here is a simple way to remember what volunteering entails. You volunteer to show up once, everything else that follows is a duty. Don’t pout when you don’t abide by this quick rule and you are not being sought after.
