Habits are like a warm bed – easy to get into and hard to get out of
This you may have heard about plenty of times. What folks typically do not realize about habits is that they usually do not start with THOUGHT. We don’t thoughtfully slip into habits. That only happens because we start a pattern of doing things over and over because we either like that or we give in to complacency. This DOING eventually turns into long lasting habits that are tough to fight.
Habits are so tough because our brilliant brain plays a huge trick on us. It suggests that we always have a CHOICE. We can choose to do something about the habit any moment. So when the habit we want to change comes about, guess what happens? “There is always tomorrow”, your brain tells you. Tada! You are slipping straight back into the habit.
So here it is important to be “in the moment”. Make a difference in the moment, the here and now. Pushing this off to another day only delays your success in life.
